Tim is the Chairman of the South African branch of ICS. Tim has more than 30 years experience in the Shipping Industry and is currently Director Operations for Hapag-Lloyd Africa (Pty) Ltd based in Durban.
 
 



 

Capt. Richard Brook-Hart (FICS)

Richard is a tutor for Shipping Business and the Understanding Shipping Course, and is currently developing a maritime geography course on behalf of the ICSSA. Richard spent 12 years with P&O, before becoming a harbour pilot in East Africa for eight years. After ‘swallowing the anchor’, he worked for various firms before setting up Alpha Shipping Agency, who specialize in ships agency and broking. Richard is married with three children, and keeps fit by sailing, jogging and the occasional hike in the Drakensberg mountains.
 
 


 

 Dieudonne Nyandu Kabongo (MICS)

Education: Honor’s degree in Development studies (Kinshasa, 1997) - Completed the ICS PQE in 2008, and received Membership in the same year;

Career: 8 years in liner shipping with DELMAS and CMA CGM, in Traffic Administration, Disbursement Accounts Control and Carrier’s Accounts Audit.
 

 

 Rob Gardner (FICS)

Rob is a qualified tutor for Introduction to Shipping and Economics of Sea Transport and International Trade. He is the Cape examiner, as well as a tutor, for the Understanding Shipping Course. Rob served as the National President of the agency association, and is currently on the SAASOA Executive and a member of the IBIA South Africa Committee.

Joan Murphy (MICS)

Sub Committee: BVC, Ethics & Discipline.

Joan accepted a position as Girl Friday with the Johanessburg branch of MUR Shipping RSA in 1996. Having been given the opportunity to “learn a little about shipping”, the management of MUR enrolled her with the ICS SA Branch for the Qualifying Exams. Joan received her MICS in 2000 and moved from Personal Assistant to the MD to the post fixtures department of MUR and shortly thereafter to the Operations Department.

Joan is an avid dancer and she and her partner are the reigning SA Champions in Latin-American in their category; Joan is also a keen horseride, keeps fit in the gym, and loves hiking, fly fishing, reading & birding.
 


 

Kevin Riekert (MICS)

Sub Committee: Sales & Marketing

Kevin kicked off his career in shipping in 1996 as an immigration office and ships operator in Richards Bay, in the good old days where no one was permitted to board a vessel before the Immigration office had completed his duties. Kevin then moved on to Panafco Maritime as a trainee ships agent, whereafter he moved to Durban in 2000 and joined LBH Tall Ships in Durban and has been Marketing Manager for LBH South Africa since 2005. He completed his ICS Qualifying exams in 2006.

In his spare time, Kevin and his family enjoy a wide variety of sports, including Surfing, Kite Surfing, Mountain Biking and SCUBA diving.
  


 

Gerard Loubser (MICS)

Gerard joined the Grindrod Group in 1993 and currently holds the position of Operations Manager at Mitchell Cotts Maritime based in Durban
 


Shelley Dovey (MICS)

Sub Committee: Sales & Marketing

Shelley matriculated at Pinetown Girls High as Head Girl in her year. Shelley is currently a student of the ICS having completed her foundation diploma last year. She has been in the shipping industry for 3 years and is employed by Jadica Shipping & Trading.
 
 




 

Lance Schneider (MICS)

Sub Committee: Education & Bursaries

Lance matriculated at New Forest High School where he completed their maritime course as well as Understanding Shipping. He is currently employed at Bridge Marine, involved in operations and freight and has been in the industry since 17, when he started as a data capturer. Lance’s special skill is cooking crayfish!!
 



 

Senzo Nxmualo (MICS)

Sub Committee: Sales & Marketing

Senzo matriculated from New Forest High School with an Understanding Shipping Certificate and the achieved his ICS Foundation Diploma. He is currently studying towards the professional qualifying exams

In his spare time he enjoy listening to music, creating beats, going to movies, and playing basketball.
 

 

 


    G.Bairstow


 Grant Bairstow (MICS)(M.Comm)(Master Marine)

Subom-Committee : Sales & Marketing

Grant has spent the last 21 years involved in the marine industry starting out as Leading Seaman in the SA Navy. After working his was to a Senior Officer in the SA Navy he left to pursue a career in the Merchant Navy serving on container vessels and tankers. His last seagoing position was as Master on an AHTS in the offshore industry. Adter comign ashore, Grant has managed the SMIT Bunker BUsiness Unit and currently holds the position of Mrine Manager at Subtech in Durban. He is actively involved in all sphere of Marine Operations from Chartering to Salvage and civil marine construction. In his spare time, Grant participates in scuba diving as a Dive Master and practices Karate.
