We were very pleased to have Prof Trevor Jones join as for lunch to talk about the “Value Chain of the bunker-supply industry activities of Durban port”.
Trevor was educated at DHS and University of Natal and joined the School of Economics at the University of Natal in 1977. Trevor introduced a maritime flavour into the Economics curriculum through modules in Maritime Transport Economics and Port Economics, and then later two post graduate programmes were introduced in Maritime Studies. Trevor retired formally at the end of 2011, stepping down from the School of Economics and Finance at that time but was subsequently rehired in 2012 by the School of Law to set up and head the Unit of Maritime Law and Maritime Studies at UKZN.
Trevor is active as a consultant, working amongst others for, SAASOA, the National Dept of Transport, the Ports Regulator and the eThekweni Municipality.
Trevor was warmly welcomed by many friends at the luncheon but unfortunately due to electricity challenges, was not able to share the presentation prepared for the talk.
Prof Jones has kindly agreed to share this with us and it is available here for your reference.
